Unpacking and Setup

Carefully unpack all components. Place the system on a stable, level surface away from direct heat or moisture.

  1. Connect Power: Plug the AC power adapter into the rear of the unit and into a wall outlet.
  2. Connect Antennas: Attach the AM loop antenna to the AM terminals. Position the FM wire antenna for best reception.
  3. Positioning: For optimal sound, place the system at least 1 inch away from walls and other objects.
  4. Remote Batteries: Install two AAA batteries into the remote control.

WARNING! Do not place heavy objects on top of the unit. Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked.

First-Time Power On

Press the POWER button on the unit or remote. The display will light up.

  1. Set Clock: Press and hold the CLOCK button, then use the TUNE/TIME buttons to set the correct time.
  2. Select Source: Press the SOURCE button to cycle through Bluetooth, CD, AUX, or Radio modes.
  3. Initial Bluetooth Pairing: See Section 6 for detailed pairing instructions.
  4. Set Alarms (Optional): Press the ALARM button to set wake-up time and source (Radio or CD).

CAUTION! Use only the provided Bose power adapter. Using an incorrect adapter may cause damage.

Display Indicators: Shows current source (BT, CD, AUX, AM, FM), track number, time, alarm status, and Bluetooth connection icon.

Bluetooth Pairing

To connect a Bluetooth device for the first time:

  1. On the Wave 3 system, press SOURCE until "BT" appears on the display.
  2. Press and hold the BLUETOOTH button on the remote for 3 seconds. The display will show "PAIRING" and the Bluetooth icon will flash.
  3. On your smartphone/tablet, go to Bluetooth settings and select "Bose Wave 3" from the list of available devices.
  4. Once connected, the icon on the display will stop flashing. Audio from your device will now play through the system.

Tip: For subsequent connections, simply select the source as "BT." The system will automatically reconnect to the last paired device if it is in range and Bluetooth is enabled.

Playing Media

Supports Audio CDs and Bluetooth streaming.

  1. CD Playback: Press EJECT, load a CD label-side up, gently close the tray. Press PLAY. Use SKIP buttons for track navigation.
  2. Bluetooth Playback: After pairing, control playback (Play, Pause, Skip) from your connected device or the remote.
  3. Auxiliary Input: Connect a device (e.g., MP3 player) to the 3.5mm AUX IN jack using the provided cable. Select "AUX" as the source.
  4. Volume Control: Use VOLUME buttons on the remote or unit. Press MUTE to temporarily silence audio.
  5. Repeat/Shuffle (CD): Press the P.MODE button during CD playback to cycle through repeat and shuffle functions.

WARNING! Do not touch the CD lens. Handle CDs by the edges to avoid scratches and fingerprints.

Radio and Presets

To listen to AM/FM radio:

  1. Press SOURCE to select AM or FM.
  2. Press and release TUNE/TIME buttons to manually scan. Press and hold for auto-scan.
  3. To save a station as a preset: Tune to the desired station. Press and hold one of the numbered buttons (1-6) on the remote until you hear a beep.
  4. To recall a preset: Simply press the corresponding numbered button (1-6).

Note: For best FM reception, fully extend the wire antenna and position it vertically. Rotate the AM loop antenna to reduce static.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug the unit before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.

Clean the CD lens only with a commercially available CD lens cleaning disc if playback issues occur.

CAUTION! Never allow liquid to enter the unit through vents or openings. Do not use aerosol sprays near the unit.
