Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface away from heat sources and moisture.

  1. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the AC input on the back of the SoundDock, then plug the adapter into a standard 120V AC wall outlet.
  2. Dock Your Device: Remove any protective case from your iPod or iPhone. Insert the appropriate dock adapter (if needed) and connect your device to the Universal Dock.
  3. Connect Auxiliary Device (Optional): Use a standard 3.5mm audio cable to connect another device to the AUX IN jack.

WARNING! Use only the provided Bose power adapter. Ensure the unit is placed on a stable surface to prevent tipping.

First-Time Setup

Power on the system; observe status indicators.

  1. Power On: Press the POWER button on the remote or the unit. The power indicator should light up.
  2. Dock Mode: When an iPod/iPhone is docked, it should begin charging automatically. The system will switch to play audio from the docked device.
  3. Auxiliary Mode: To use the auxiliary input, press the AUX button on the remote. Connect your audio device and start playback.
  4. Volume Adjustment: Set the initial volume to a low level using the remote or unit controls.

CAUTION! Do not force your device into the dock. Ensure you are using the correct dock adapter for a secure fit.

Controls and Settings

Primary controls are via the included remote control. Unit may have basic buttons (Power, Aux).

Remote: POWER, VOLUME UP/DOWN, MUTE, PLAY/PAUSE, PREVIOUS TRACK, NEXT TRACK, AUX (input select).

System automatically selects the dock as the active input when a device is connected and recognized. Press AUX to switch to the auxiliary input. There are no user-adjustable audio equalizer settings; sound is optimized by Bose engineering.

Connecting Devices

iPod/iPhone: Use the Universal Dock. Other Audio Devices: Use the 3.5mm AUX IN jack.

  1. Ensure the SoundDock is powered off before connecting or disconnecting devices.
  2. For docking, select the correct insert for your device model to ensure proper alignment and charging.
  3. For auxiliary devices, use a quality shielded audio cable to minimize interference.
  4. Power on the SoundDock, then select the correct input (Dock or AUX) using the remote.

Tip: For best audio quality from auxiliary devices, set the device's volume to about 75% and use the SoundDock remote for final volume adjustment.

Playing Music

Supports playback from docked iPod/iPhone or connected auxiliary device.

  1. Docked Playback: Dock your iPod/iPhone. Use the device itself or the remote to select music, play, pause, skip tracks, and adjust volume.
  2. Auxiliary Playback: Connect your device to the AUX IN jack. Press AUX on the remote. Control playback (play, pause, track selection) directly on the connected device. Use the SoundDock remote for volume control and mute.
  3. Charging: A docked iPod/iPhone will charge whenever the SoundDock is plugged into power, even if the system is turned off.

WARNING! Do not remove the docked device while it is updating or syncing. Eject the device from iTunes on your computer first if connected.

Remote Control

Infrared remote requires line-of-sight to the front of the SoundDock unit.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug the power adapter before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water only.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or sprays. Do not allow moisture to enter any openings. Keep the dock connector and auxiliary jack free of dust and debris.
