Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all components. Place system on a stable, level surface.

  1. Connect power: Plug the power adapter into the SoundDock and then into a standard 120V AC outlet.
  2. Dock your iPod: Remove any protective case from your iPod and insert it firmly into the docking cradle. Ensure it clicks into place.
  3. Connect auxiliary device (optional): Use a 3.5mm audio cable to connect another device to the AUX IN jack.
  4. Power on: The system will power on automatically when an iPod is docked. The status light will illuminate.

WARNING! Use only the provided Bose power adapter. Ensure the system is placed in a well-ventilated area away from heat sources.

First-Time Use

After setup, follow these steps to begin playback.

  1. Ensure your iPod is charged and contains music.
  2. Dock the iPod. The SoundDock will power on and your iPod should begin playing (if not paused).
  3. Control playback using the buttons on your iPod or the included remote control.
  4. Adjust volume using the volume buttons on the remote or the top of the SoundDock (if equipped).
  5. To use an auxiliary source, dock an iPod to power the system on, then press the AUX button on the remote to switch inputs.

NOTE: The SoundDock charges your iPod while docked. Charging time varies by iPod model and battery level.

Connecting Devices

  2. For AUX, ensure the cable is fully inserted into both devices.
  3. Dock an iPod to power the system on, then use the remote's AUX button to switch to the auxiliary input.
  4. Start playback on your external device.

Tip: For best audio quality, set the volume on your external device to about 75% and use the SoundDock remote for final volume adjustment.

Playing Music

Supports playback from docked iPod or connected auxiliary device.

  1. iPod Playback: Dock iPod. Use iPod controls or remote to navigate playlists, artists, albums, or songs. Press PLAY/PAUSE.
  2. Auxiliary Playback: Switch input to AUX using remote. Control playback (play, pause, skip) directly on the connected device.
  3. Volume: Adjust using remote or SoundDock buttons.
  4. Mute: Press MUTE on remote; press again or adjust volume to unmute.
  5. Power Off: Remove iPod from dock. The system will typically enter standby after a period of inactivity.

WARNING! Do not force iPod into dock. Handle iPod and dock connector with care to avoid damage.

Remote Control

Insert batteries (typically included). Point remote at the front of the SoundDock within a clear line of sight.

Button Guide: POWER (turns system on/off), PLAY/PAUSE, PREVIOUS (<<), NEXT (>>), VOLUME (+/-), MUTE, AUX (toggles between iPod and auxiliary input).

Battery Replacement: Use two AAA batteries. Replace when remote operation becomes inconsistent.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug power adapter before cleaning. Wipe exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquids, sprays, or abrasive cleaners.

Keep vents unobstructed. Do not place objects on top of the system. Store in a cool, dry place.

CAUTION! Never allow liquid to enter any openings. Do not attempt to open or service the unit yourself.
