Controls and Indicators

Control Module (inline on cable): POWER switch, NOISE CANCELLATION button, VOLUME slider.

Indicator Light: Green light indicates power and noise cancellation are active. If light flashes, battery is low.

Power: Slide switch to ON/OFF. Noise Cancellation: Press button to toggle noise cancellation ON/OFF (audible tone indicates status). Volume: Slide up/down to adjust listening level. Audio Passthrough: With noise cancellation OFF, audio still plays but without noise reduction.

Using the Headphones

For music, movies, phone calls, and travel.

  1. Turn on power and enable noise cancellation as desired.
  2. Connect to audio source using included cable.
  3. Adjust volume to comfortable level.
  4. For airplanes: Use airplane adapter to connect to seat jack.
  5. To conserve battery: Turn off when not in use; unit will auto-off after approximately 5 minutes if no audio signal detected.

Tip: For best noise cancellation, ensure earcups form a seal around ears.

Noise Cancellation

Active noise reduction technology reduces ambient noise.

  1. Press NOISE CANCELLATION button to turn feature ON (green light steady) or OFF (light off).
  2. When ON, external noises (like engine rumble) are significantly reduced.
  3. Noise cancellation works best with constant low-frequency sounds (airplanes, trains, office HVAC).
  4. You may hear a slight hiss when no audio is playing; this is normal.
  5. Audio quality remains high with noise cancellation ON or OFF.

WARNING! Do not use in situations where awareness of surroundings is critical (e.g., walking near traffic).

Care & Maintenance

Unplug cable before cleaning. Store in carrying case when not in use.

Cleaning: Use dry, soft cloth to wipe earcups and headband. Do not use liquids or cleaners on cushions. Battery: Replace AAA battery when indicator flashes or noise cancellation weakens. Remove battery if not using for extended periods. Cushions: Replaceable; contact Bose for replacement parts.
