Safety Precautions

Before servicing, review all safety warnings. Disconnect all power sources.

  1. Power off and remove battery before disassembly.
  2. Use approved tools to avoid damage to components.
  3. Handle flex cables and connectors with care.
  4. Replace worn or damaged cushions and cables only with genuine Bose parts.

Disassembly Procedure

Follow steps in order. Document screw locations.

  1. Remove left ear cushion by gently pulling from ear cup.
  2. Remove four Phillips screws securing ear cup cover.
  3. Carefully separate ear cup cover from housing.
  4. Disconnect battery connector and note orientation.
  5. Remove PCB mounting screws and lift PCB assembly.
  6. For driver replacement, desolder three connections noting polarity.

CAUTION! Apply even pressure when separating housings to avoid cracking plastic clips.

Parts Identification

Major assemblies: Left/Right Ear Cups, Headband Assembly, Cushions, Battery Door, PCB (Noise Cancelling), Driver Units, Audio Cable.

Left Ear Cup: Houses primary PCB, battery compartment, NC switch, 2.5mm jack. Right Ear Cup: Houses secondary driver. Headband: Adjustable steel core with padded cover. Cushions: Synthetic leather over foam, replaceable.

Battery Replacement

Located in left ear cup.

  1. Slide battery door open on left ear cup.
  2. Remove depleted AAA battery noting orientation.
  3. Insert new AAA battery (alkaline recommended) with correct polarity.
  4. Close battery door until it clicks.
  5. Turn Noise Cancelling switch to ON; verify LED indicator illuminates briefly.

Tip: Use fresh alkaline batteries for optimal performance and battery life.

Cable & Connector Service

Audio cable is detachable at left ear cup (2.5mm jack).

  1. To replace cable: Grasp connector firmly and pull straight out from jack.
  2. Insert new cable connector fully until seated.
  3. For inline remote/mic cable issues: Test continuity with multimeter.
  4. Internal jack replacement requires disassembly and soldering.

WARNING! Do not pull cable at an angle. Ensure connector is fully inserted to maintain audio and mic function.

  3. Microphone Test: Use with phone call; verify remote buttons function.
  4. Battery Test: Verify LED illuminates and NC operates for expected duration.
