Unpacking & Inspection

  1. Open shipping carton and remove all foam packing materials.
  2. Remove each component from its protective packaging.

  4. Lay out all components on a clean, flat surface.
  5. Verify all cables and accessories are present.

WARNING! The Acoustimass module is heavy; lift with proper technique to avoid back injury. Use two people if necessary.

Placement Guidelines

Proper placement is critical for optimal surround sound performance.

  1. Media Center: Place in a well-ventilated area near your TV and source components.
  2. Front Speakers: Position left and right speakers at ear level, angled toward listening position.
  3. Center Speaker: Place above or below TV screen, centered horizontally.
  4. Surround Speakers: Position to sides or slightly behind listening position, at or above ear level.
  5. Acoustimass Module: Place along a wall, away from corners for balanced bass response.

CAUTION! Ensure all components have adequate ventilation. Do not place Media Center in enclosed cabinet without proper airflow.

Connection Diagrams

Connecting Source Devices

Connect your TV, Blu-ray player, cable/satellite box, gaming console, and other sources.

HDMI Connection (Recommended): Use HDMI cables for both audio and video when possible.

  1. Turn off all components before making connections.
  2. Connect HDMI output from source devices to HDMI inputs on Media Center.
  3. Connect HDMI output from Media Center to HDMI input on TV.
  4. For devices without HDMI, use component video or composite video connections with corresponding audio cables.
  5. For audio-only devices, use optical digital or analog audio connections.

Tip: Label cables during installation for easier identification later.

Speaker Connections

Connect all speakers to the Media Center using provided color-coded cables.

  1. Identify each speaker cable by its colored connector.
  2. Match cable colors to corresponding terminals on Media Center rear panel.
  3. Connect front left/right speakers to FL/FR terminals.
  4. Connect center speaker to CENTER terminal.
  5. Connect surround left/right speakers to SL/SR terminals.
  6. Connect Acoustimass module to BASS OUTPUT terminal.
  7. Ensure all connections are secure and not touching other terminals.

WARNING! Do not connect speakers to power outlets. Only connect to designated terminals on Media Center.

Initial Power-Up & Setup

Power on the system and begin basic configuration.

  1. Connect power cords to Media Center and Acoustimass module, then to wall outlets.
  2. Press POWER button on Media Center or remote control.
  3. Follow on-screen setup prompts on your TV display.
  4. Select language (default: ENGLISH).
  5. Set time zone and clock.

CAUTION! Ensure all connections are correct before applying power. Incorrect connections may damage components.

ADAPTiQ Audio Calibration

The ADAPTiQ system optimizes audio performance for your specific room acoustics.

  1. Connect ADAPTiQ headset to front panel jack on Media Center.
  2. Position headset on your head at primary listening position.
  3. Follow on-screen instructions to begin calibration.
  4. Remain silent during test tones.
  5. Repeat process for additional listening positions if desired.
  6. Remove headset when calibration completes.

Note: For best results, perform calibration in your normal listening environment with typical furnishings in place.

Remote Control Setup

Program the universal remote to control your TV and source devices.

  1. Press and hold SETUP button on remote until light stays on.
  2. Enter 3-digit code for your TV brand (see code list in manual).
  3. Test power, volume, and input controls.
  4. Repeat for each source device (Blu-ray, cable box, etc.).
