Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully unpack and inspect all components.

  1. Remove speaker from packaging and inspect for shipping damage.
  2. Verify contents: Bose F1 speaker, power cable, user manual.
  3. Check flexible array mechanism for smooth operation.
  4. Inspect all connectors and controls for damage.

WARNING! Speaker is heavy (approx. 40 lbs/18 kg); lift with proper technique using handles. Use two people for safe handling.

System Setup

Position speaker according to venue requirements and connect audio sources.

  1. Placement: Position on stable surface or mount on speaker stand using pole socket.
  2. Power Connection: Plug power cable into AC outlet (100-240V).
  3. Audio Connections: Connect microphones or instruments to XLR/TRS inputs.
  4. Source Connection: Connect music players to RCA inputs or use Bluetooth.
  5. Array Adjustment: Shape flexible array to match venue (see Section 6).
  6. Power On: Switch power on at rear panel; allow system to initialize.

CAUTION! Ensure speaker is securely mounted on stand. Never place on unstable surfaces.

Controls and Connections

Rear Panel: POWER switch, INPUT 1-2 controls, MASTER volume, LINE OUT level, EFFECTS control.

Input Channels: Each channel has GAIN, 2-band EQ (HIGH/LOW), REVERB send. Channel 1 includes 48V phantom power switch.

Bluetooth Pairing: Press and hold Bluetooth button until LED flashes; select "Bose F1" on your device.

Array Position Indicators: Markings show recommended positions for different venues (Straight, C, J, Reverse J, Front Fill).

Flexible Array Positioning

Manually shape the array to optimize coverage for your venue.

  1. Straight Line: Default position for general purpose use.
  2. C Shape: For elevated placement, directing sound downward.
  3. J Shape: For ground placement, directing sound upward.
  4. Reverse J: For balcony coverage from below.
  5. Front Fill: For near-field coverage on stage.

Tip: Adjust array before powering on. Listen from different positions to verify coverage.

Mixer Operation

Use the integrated mixer for basic sound reinforcement.

  1. Set all levels to minimum before connecting sources.
  2. Connect microphones to Input 1 (with phantom power if needed).
  3. Connect instruments or line sources to Input 2.
  4. Adjust GAIN for each channel (aim for green LED, avoid red clipping).
  5. Use EQ to adjust tone: HIGH for brightness, LOW for warmth.
  6. Add reverb using EFFECTS control (turn clockwise for more effect).
  7. Adjust MASTER volume to appropriate level for venue.
  8. Use LINE OUT to connect to additional speakers or recording devices.

WARNING! Avoid feedback by proper microphone placement and gain structure. Never point microphones directly at speakers.

Bluetooth Connectivity

Stream audio wirelessly from compatible devices.

  1. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
  2. Press and hold Bluetooth button on rear panel until LED flashes blue.
  3. Select "Bose F1" from your device's Bluetooth menu.
  4. Once connected, LED will glow solid blue.
  5. Control volume from your device or MASTER volume on speaker.
  6. To disconnect, turn off Bluetooth on your device or press Bluetooth button.

Note: Bluetooth range is approximately 30 feet (10 meters) line-of-sight.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug from power before cleaning. Use soft, dry cloth only.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with dry cloth. For stubborn marks, use damp cloth with mild soap.
  2. Grille: Use soft brush to remove dust. Do not use liquids on grille.
  3. Connectors: Keep free of dust and debris. Use compressed air if needed.
  4. Storage: Store in dry, temperature-controlled environment.
  5. Transport: Use handles; avoid dropping or impact damage.

CAUTION! Never use solvents, abrasives, or aerosol cleaners. Do not expose to rain or moisture.
