Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all components. Place on stable, flat surface.

  1. Position speakers: Place satellites on either side of monitor; Acoustimass module on floor or under desk.
  2. Connect speakers: Plug satellite cables into corresponding ports on Acoustimass module.
  3. Connect Control Pod: Attach pod cable to module; place pod within easy reach.
  4. Connect audio source: Use included 3.5mm cable to connect computer or device to module input.
  5. Connect power: Plug power adapter into module and wall outlet.

WARNING! Ensure proper ventilation; do not block module ports. Keep away from heat sources.

First-Time Configuration

Power on system; follow these steps for optimal performance.

  1. Power connection: Ensure power adapter is securely connected to module and outlet.
  2. Audio source selection: Connect computer or device to primary input on module.
  3. Volume adjustment: Turn Control Pod knob to minimum before powering on source.
  4. Test audio: Play audio from source; adjust volume gradually to desired level.
  5. Headphone check: Plug headphones into Control Pod to verify automatic mute function.

CAUTION! Avoid high volume initially to prevent sudden loud sounds.

Controls and Operation

All primary controls located on Control Pod. Acoustimass module has power and input connections.

Control Pod: Volume Knob (rotate for adjustment), Mute Button (press to mute/unmute), Headphone Jack (auto-mutes speakers when plugged in).

Operation: Turn volume knob clockwise to increase, counterclockwise to decrease. Press mute button to instantly silence audio; press again to restore. Plug headphones into jack for private listening—speakers automatically mute. Ensure Acoustimass module power LED is lit when system is on.

Connecting Audio Sources

Supports computers, MP3 players, tablets, and other devices with 3.5mm audio output.

  1. Turn off audio source and speaker system before connecting.
  2. Use included 3.5mm cable: Plug one end into source headphone/audio output, other end into module input.
  3. For auxiliary devices: Use additional 3.5mm cable if connecting second source.
  4. Power on system, then audio source.
  5. Select correct input on source device if multiple options exist.

Tip: For best audio quality, ensure connections are secure and cables undamaged.

Using with Computers

Optimized for Windows and Mac computers.

- **Windows:** 1. Connect 3.5mm cable from computer audio output to module input. 2. In Windows Sound settings, set Bose Companion 3 as default playback device. 3. Adjust volume using Control Pod and/or system volume control. - **Mac:** 1. Connect 3.5mm cable from headphone/audio output to module input. 2. In System Preferences > Sound, select Bose Companion 3 as output. 3. Use Control Pod for primary volume adjustment.

Note: System is magnetically shielded; safe to use near CRT or LCD monitors.
