Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully unpack all components and verify contents against the packing list.

  1. Remove the bass module and satellite speakers from protective packaging.
  2. Locate the included speaker cables, connection wires, and any mounting hardware.
  3. Inspect all items for any signs of shipping damage. Do not use damaged components.
  4. Keep the original packaging for future storage or transport.

WARNING! The bass module is heavy. Lift with your legs, not your back, to avoid injury.

System Setup and Placement

Proper placement is critical for achieving the best sound quality.

  1. Bass Module Placement: Place on the floor against a wall, in a corner, or inside a cabinet. Ensure vents are not blocked.
  2. Satellite Speaker Placement: For stereo: Place left and right speakers at ear level, 6-10 feet apart. For home theater: Follow your receiver's guidelines for front left/right and surround speaker placement.
  3. Orientation: Satellites can be oriented vertically or horizontally based on your mounting choice.
  4. Distance: Maintain a clear path between the bass module and satellite speakers for cable routing.

CAUTION! Do not place the bass module or satellites in enclosed spaces without adequate ventilation.

Specifications

Connecting to Your Audio/Video Receiver

Connect the satellite speakers to your receiver's speaker outputs.

  1. Turn off and unplug your receiver.
  2. Identify the speaker output terminals on your receiver (Front L/R, Surround L/R, etc.).
  3. Connect the wire from the LEFT satellite speaker to your receiver's LEFT FRONT speaker terminals, observing polarity (+ to +, - to -).
  4. Repeat for the RIGHT satellite speaker and any additional surround or center channels.
  5. Use the 5-way binding posts: unscrew the collar, insert bare wire or connector, then tighten.

Tip: Use high-quality speaker wire (16-gauge or lower) for runs longer than 20 feet.

Connecting the Bass Module

The bass module connects between your receiver and the satellite speakers.

  1. Locate the input terminals on the bass module (typically labeled "From Receiver").
  2. Run a pair of speaker wires from your receiver's LEFT and RIGHT front speaker outputs to the corresponding inputs on the bass module.
  3. Connect the provided special cables or speaker wires from the bass module's satellite outputs (labeled "To Speakers") to your LEFT and RIGHT satellite speakers.
  4. Ensure all connections are secure and polarity is maintained throughout the chain.

WARNING! For models with a single input, ensure your receiver is set to "Large" or "Full Range" front speakers if not using the proprietary bass management.

Calibration and Initial Sound Check

After connections are made, perform a system check.

  1. Plug in and turn on your audio/video receiver.
  2. Set the receiver's volume to a low level.
  3. Play a familiar music track or test tone.
  4. Verify sound is coming from all connected satellites and the bass module.
  5. Use your receiver's setup menu to run automatic speaker calibration (if available) or manually set speaker sizes to "Small" and crossover to 80-100 Hz for optimal integration.
  6. Adjust the bass module's level control (if present) to blend with the satellites.

CAUTION! Do not play at high volume during initial testing to avoid potential damage.

Operation and Listening Modes

Operation is primarily controlled through your audio/video receiver.

  1. Stereo Music: Select "Stereo" or "Direct" mode on your receiver for two-channel playback.
  2. Home Theater: Select Dolby Digital, DTS, or other surround modes for movies and TV.
  3. Bass Adjustment: Fine-tune bass response using your receiver's subwoofer level/trim control or the knob on the bass module (if equipped).
  4. Volume: Control overall volume using your receiver's remote or main volume knob.

Tip: For music, slight toe-in of the satellite speakers towards the primary listening position can improve stereo imaging.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug the system from power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to dust the cabinets and grilles. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use solvents, abrasives, or spray cleaners.

CAUTION! Never allow liquid to enter the bass module port or satellite driver openings. Do not remove speaker drivers.
